Summer Streets comes to New York City this weekend, turning the otherwise busy Manhattan streets into a 7-mile-long park where people can race an Olympian, zip through the city skyline or splash down a water slide.
Lafayette Street and Park Avenue will be shut down from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. The streets will also be shut down on Aug. 13 and 20.
As in previous years, there will be several rest stops along the path that have activities and refreshments.
Among the highlights at this year's stops are a virtual race against an Olympian at Astor Place, a soccer tournament at a midtown stop and a a 300-foot beach slide and DJ at Foley Square.
