Authorities have launched an investigation after a video posted on the Web appeared to show a police officer asleep in his car while on duty in northern New Jersey.
The 38-second, grainy video was taken Sunday from inside a vehicle and posted on YouTube by “Asad and Josh.” It was removed sometime Monday.
The video showed a police car, its emergency lights flashing, and the officer appeared to be slouched in the driver seat.
Parsippany Police Chief Michael Peckerman says the officer in the video was assigned to monitor an intersection that had a malfunctioning traffic light.
The chief declined to name the officer because of state confidentiality guidelines.
