A sex-toy giveaway that drew hundreds of people, only to be shut down Wednesday by the city because it lacked the proper permits, was given the go-ahead to resume on Thursday, according to a report.
The day after the event was shut down, the Trojan condom company was granted permits for its "Pleasure Carts,'' the New York Post says. It was scheduled to take place between 5 and 7 p.m. Thursday on the south side of 14th Street between Ninth and Tenth avenues.
On Wednesday, the company set up carts in two Manhattan neighborhoods, and were ready to give away 10,000 vibrating sex toys. Nearly 300 people had lined up at each of the hot-dog-style carts. The event was interrupted when a city representative told the promoters to shut down because of crowds, according to The New York Post.
An official told the Post Thursday that Trojan had to pay $3,100 in fees associated with the permits.
One of those on line Wednesday, Melody Henry, grumbled that Mayor Bloomberg "doesn't want anyone to have fun. You can't have a giant soda, You can't have a vibrator.''
