Suspect Arrested in Upper West Side Stabbing

Police say they've arrested a man suspected of stabbing and slashing a stranger who sat next to him on the Upper West Side.

Carlos Hernandez, 25, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of assault to cause serious injury, police said. It wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney.

Hernandez is accused of stabbing a 39-year-old man in the torso and slashing him in the face near Broadway and West 93rd Street Saturday afternoon.

He then fled and entered the subway station on 96th Street, police said.

The victim was taken to Mount Sinai St. Luke's Hospital in serious but stable condition, police said.
