Police said they were investigating the death of a 78-year-old man whose body was found inside his apartment on the Upper East Side.
The NYPD said that Christopher Cooley's building superintendent found the man dead in his 11th-floor apartment on East 64th Street at about 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
The superintendent checked on Cooley after getting a call from a relative who hadn't heard from the 78-year-old in a while. When the superintendent went in the apartment, he found Cooley dead on a couch with a pillow over his face.
There was broken glass in the apartment, and authorities said that both of the apartment's doors were locked. The case was being investigated as suspicious.
A medical examiner is conducting an autopsy to determine how the man died.
