A man in the Bronx ran up to an elderly victim and sucker punched him, knocking him to the ground unconscious, police say.
On Monday just before 11 a.m., the suspect, who officials said was unprovoked, sprinted toward the 83-year-old man and punched him in the face in Morrisania, according to the NYPD.
The victim fell to the ground, where he lost consciousness, authorities said.
The suspect then ran away, police said.
The elderly victim was taken to an area hospital, where he is in critical condition, officials said.
The violent blow fractured the man’s nose and face and cut his forehead, police said.
Investigators on Tuesday released surveillance footage of the suspect from the scene in hopes of catching the 30-something-year-old man.
