Restaurant Owner Delivering Food Sucker-Punched Coming Down the Stairs: Police

Three young men ganged up on a man delivering food last week in the Bronx by sucker punching him and taking his cash, police say.

On Aug. 24, the 46-year-old owner of a Chinese food restaurant dropped off a food order at a building on Walton Avenue in Mount Eden when the trio attacked him as he came down the stairs, according to the NYPD.

The suspects took $150 from the victim before they all fled the location heading north on Walton Avenue, police said.

The victim suffered a cut to the face but refused medical attention, officials said.

Police say these three suspects are wanted in the vicious robbery.

Video from the scene shows the trio apparently plotting their plan to attack the victim before one of the suspects punches him as another one jumps in to help in the robbery.

The restaurant owner and deliveryman says he's scared but has no choice but to keep working. He says he has a wife and two sons to provide for, and deliveries are the only way to keep the business afloat.

"I must be doing every day delivery," he said, asking to remain anonymous.

The victim says it's not the first time he's been menaced by one of the teens who attacked him.

"Before he take my food three times, two times," he said.

Afraid to notify police in the past, his wife says the beating was the last straw. Mount Eden neighbors who know the business owner also hope the teen robbers will be found and punished.

"He doesn't bother nobody," said Tito Jiminez. "He does his delivery and that's it. And he's been around for awhile."

Police urge witnesses to call investigators with tips that could help get the suspects off the streets before they strike again.
