Transformer Explosion Knocks Out Power to More Than 1,000 Customers in Brooklyn

A transformer explosion in Brooklyn has knocked out power to more than 1,000 customers in Dyker Heights, Con Edison says. 

Con Edison had repair crews en route to restore power to 1,200 customers. A local councilman says the area affected by the outage is 80th through 86th streets between 7th Avenue through 12th Avenue. 

The FDNY was first called to the area of 8012 10th Ave. for a report of a transformer fire just after 8 p.m.
