Three Killed in Separate Incidents in Newark

Three people were killed in unrelated incidents miles apart in Newark.

It was a deadly Friday in Newark, New Jersey's third-largest city.

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office says three people were killed in separate incidents during a 13-hour stretch.
 
The first was 33-year-old Nakisha Burks. She was discovered around 10 a.m. by construction workers inspecting a building for demolition. The cause of death was unknown but the case is being treated as a homicide.
 
About two hours later a man identified as 26-year-old Joaquin Moton of East Orange was found dead in the street from a gunshot wound.
 
The third victim, 47-year-old Dwayne Brown of Irvington, was shot about three miles away at approximately 11 p.m. and died at University Hospital. 
 
Authorities say the deaths are not related.
