Thief Yanks ATM From Queens Gas Station, Drives Off: NYPD

A man stole an ATM from a gas station and chained it to his truck before fleeing onto the highway Friday morning in Queens.

The suspect backed his black Jeep into an ATM outside a BP gas station near Atlantic Avenue and the Van Wyck Expressway at around 7:10 a.m., police said. He then exited his car and tied a chain around the ATM.

After securing the chain, he lunged forward and ripped the ATM out, authorities said.

Once the machine was uprooted, he hauled the ATM into the back of his vehicle and fled southbound on the Van Wyck Expressway service road.

There have been no arrests. The investigation is ongoing.
