The World's Most Fabulous Cheesecake — at a Fabulous Price

Eat at the original, for an original price.

Junior’s, Brooklyn's landmark diner with a legendary cheesecake, is celebrating its 60th anniversary Friday a deal even the most jaded New Yorker could love: Get a slice of their original-style cheesecake for only 60 cents -- or a completely free slice if you order any lunch or dinner entrée.

The restaurant is known for having “The World’s Most Fabulous Cheesecakes.” In 1950, when Harry Rosen founded the eatery named after his son, slices were 35 cents at the time -- almost 17 times cheaper than the current $5.99 cost.

Third generation Junior's owner Alan Rosen told NBCNewYork that though their real 60th anniversary falls on November 2nd -- but tomorrow coincides with National Cheesecake Day (yeah, it exists).

Rosen also said that on Friday the restaurant will announce the beginning of their "Next Great Junior's Cheesecake Recipe Contest," which will invite contestants to participate from across the nation.  The winning cheesecake recipe gets a free trip to New York to visit the restaurant, a cash prize, and a feature at Junior's Restaurant.

The offer, limited to one slice per person, will be given at the landmark location of Flatbush and Dekalb Avenues in Brooklyn. The Grand Central Station and Times Square restaurants will not be participating in the special.
