Multi-Agency Raid Targets NYC Bar Where Wild Brawl Broke Out

Police say a multi-agency raid targeting the Lower East Side bar where a wild brawl was captured on video two weeks ago has resulted in dozens of violations against the business.

The sting operation at The DL bar on Delancey Street Friday involved several agencies, including the NYPD, the State Liquor Authority, the Department of Health and the Department of Buildings, among others.

Police confirmed the evening raid resulted in 36 violations.

Deputy Inspector Steven Hellman, who is the commander at NYPD's Precinct no. 7, told neighborhood blog Bowery Boogie that authorities carried out the raid "due to the recent incidents, the community's concerns, and the establishment's disregard for following proper guidelines pertaining to various agencies' agreed stipulations."

"It was a joint effort amongst all agencies that expressed concerns to me," he said.

Authorities had been investigating a wild brawl outside The DL on April 22, when a group of people were seen on video throwing punches and shoving and chasing each other as the fight continues to move down the street. At least one woman was knocked to the ground in the fight.

Hellman has said that the bar doesn't have the best interest of the community in mind and that it has ignored the police precinct's warnings about throwing parties in the past.

The DL, which was already facing the possibility of having its liquor license revoked or canceled by the State Liquor Authority for another fight outside the club on Feb. 26, faces a hearing next month.

A message has been left with the bar.
