Teen Killed, Another Wounded in Newark Shooting: Prosecutor

A shooting in New Jersey's largest city left a 16-year-old dead and wounded a 17-year-old, prosecutors said Saturday. 

Police found both teens with gunshot wounds at about at 3 p.m. Friday on Hawthorn Avenue in Newark, according to Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas S. Fennelly of the Prosecutor's Homicide Unit.

Malik Bullock, of Newark, was pronounced dead at the scene, prosecutors said. The 17-year-old was taken to a hospital in stable condition. 

The investigation is ongoing, prosecutors said.
