12-Year-Old Boy Hit, Injured by Stray Bullet in New Jersey

The bullet entered through the window of a home on Magnolia Avenue in Elizabeth

A 12-year-old New Jersey boy was struck by a stray bullet that came through the window of his living room Sunday afternoon.

The shot was fired outside Magnolia Avenue in Elizabeth around 4 p.m. and hit Marc Allen, who was superficially wounded and treated for minor injuries.

The 12-year-old boy told NBC 4 New York he was worried his injuries were more serious.

"I was thinking I was going to die," Marc said.

Allen said he feels lucky the wound was not deep but is also confused and scared.

"I think it's very scary, dangerous, not safe," he said.

Residents in the neighborhood say they saw a fight brewing outside around the time of the gunfire, and that it may have started between two women over a boyfriend.

Allen's mother said she is concerned about the violence.

"That's my only son and he's a good kid," said Christina Jeatter. "It's not like I keep him in the street. He was in the house and that happened to him. It's sad."
