Girl With Learning Disability Lured to Brooklyn School Bathroom, Forced to Perform Sex Acts: Police

Two boys, ages 14 and 15, were taken into custody after they were allegedly involved in a sex attack on a 17-year-old learning disabled classmate at their Brooklyn school, police say.

The boys are accused of attacking the girl after another classmate lured her to the boys bathroom at Public School 156 Ida Posner on Lott Avenue in Brownsville around 11:30 a.m. Monday, authorities said. When she got there, the 15-year-old boy allegedly pushed her inside and made her perform sex acts on the 14-year-old boy.

Six other boys allegedly waited inside the bathroom, and officials say the victim told police she saw someone holding a cellphone and possibly recording the attack, though no recording has been recovered at this time.

The victim told a friend about the attack after she left the bathroom, and the friend told a guidance counselor, authorities say. The victim wasn't hospitalized, but she continues to be evaluated, according to police.

Police said it's not clear how many boys were involved; only two were apprehended. The older boy faces charges of unlawful imprisonment, sex abuse and forcible touching; the younger is accused of the latter two crimes.

The police took the boys to family court, where they were released to their parents, authorities said.

Neighborhood residents were shocked and said if the allegations are true, the boys need to be punished.

"Oh wow, they need to look into that and see what's up because at the end of the day, that's someone's daughter," said Jonathan Green. "The parents have to handle that and the courts have to handle that. You know what you were doing when you pushed that girl in there."

A spokeswoman for the Department of Education said the school immediately reported the attack and is cooperating with the NYPD.

"This incident is deeply troubling and we are working closely with the NYPD as they conduct an investigation," she said. "Nothing is more important than the safety of our students and staff, and we're ensuring that it is swiftly addressed. This was immediately reported, families have been notified and we are providing the school with additional supports."
