Police in Nassau County said the case of an alleged child abduction attempt at Green Acres Mall over the weekend was not a crime after an investigation. 

Detectives say a man seated on a bench in a common area at the mall, located in Valley Stream, grabbed an unknown boy by the hand and attempted to walk away with the child Sunday around 5 p.m.

Police later clarified and said the man thought he was grabbing his child's hand, but accidentally grabbed another child's hand instead. 

Police said it was not an attempted kidnapping and an innocent mistake.
