Woman, 70, Hurt Trying to Rescue Woman, 68, Who Falls on Subway Tracks in Bronx: Police

A 68-year-old woman lost her balance and fell into the roadbed at a Bronx subway station, and a 70-year-old woman who tried to help her was hospitalized after accidentally touching the electrified third rail, authorities say. 

Service on the No. 2 line was suspended between East 180th and Wakefield-241st streets as officials responded to Gun Hill Road station shortly before 11 a.m. 

The 68-year-old victim was taken to a hospital in cardiac arrest and is in critical condition. The Good Samaritan is in stable condition at a hospital.
