Suspect in Custody After “End the Fed” Graffiti Sprayed on Staten Island Businesses

A suspect is in custody after several buildings were vandalized with graffiti that included anti-Semitic and anti-Obama references.

The Staten Island Advance says the NYPD took a suspect into custody Monday, about a week after the first instances of the graffiti, which included the use of the phrase "End the Fed," began popping up around the borough.

"End the Fed" may be a reference to the title of the 2009 book by former Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, which argues for the abolition of the "corrupt" United States Federal Reserve System.

The one that referenced President Barack Obama included an obscenity.

The targets included six banks. The graffiti also marred two flag murals that graced the facades of a supermarket and an ice cream shop.

It's not clear what charges the suspect may face.
