Staten Island Congressman Back in the Headlines Over Sea of Galilee Swim

On Sunday, Politico reported sources saying Grimm was among a group of freshman lawmakers who swam in the Sea of Galilee last year

Staten Island Congressman Michael Grimm's reported late-night swim in Israel's Sea of Galilee is the legislator's third dip into the headlines so far this month.

On Sunday, Politico reported sources saying Grimm was among a group of freshman lawmakers who swam in the Sea of Galilee last year, one of them in the nude.

Grimm's spokesman told the Daily News Sunday night the congressman was not naked when he jumped into the Sea of Galilee, and has not been interviewed by the FBI.

Last week, an Israeli who helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for Grimm during his 2010 campaign was arrested on immigration fraud charges.

Grimm, a first-term Republican, has not been charged with a crime, and says he complied with all campaign laws.

And two weeks ago, the New York Times reported that Grimm did not initially file the proper paperwork about a trip he took to Cyprus after visiting Israel. He amended a filing to report the Cyprus trip a day after his host on the trip, Peter Papanicolaou, was arrested in June on federal corruption charges, the Times reported.

A lawyer for Grimm said the filing had nothing to do with the arrest, and declined to discuss Grimm and Papanicolaou's relationship.
