25 Million Gallons of Sewage Spill in Stamford

Partially treated sewage has spilled into Stamford Harbor in Connecticut after heavy rains overnight.

The Wastewater Pollution Control Authority notified state officials that about 25 million gallons of sewage began flowing into the harbor Wednesday night.

More than 4 inches of rain fell in Stamford during the storm that moved out Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

Carl Bochterie, a dock master on the harbor, told the Stamford Advocate that sewage was floating on top of the water.

"It stinks. It's disgusting," he said.
