A 36-year-old man faces murder and other charges for allegedly stabbing the mother of his three children to death in her New Jersey home.
Jose Castro-Lavado was taken into custody Tuesday in the Monday-night stabbing at the apartment on Wilson Avenue and Chestnut Street in Kearny. Prosecutors say 46-year-old Luisa Cristina Reyna-Tello was pronounced dead at the scene after authorities responded to a 911 call around 6:45 p.m.
Witnesses said one of the couple's two teen daughters was the one who found her body in the second-floor apartment. They also said they heard some sort of argument going on inside the home before police showed up.
The couple also have a baby boy together, according to prosecutors.
Information on an attorney for Castro-Lavado wasn't immediately available. He appeared before a judge Tuesday.
