It's been a little over two weeks since we first brought you word of the Red Bull Snowboarding competition being held in East River Park. Since then, over 100 workers have been working to build the city a 9-story, 150-foot long jump for "the largest urban snowboard event in North America," per the New York Times. Sixteen of the world's top riders will be competing for the $100,000 purse, with the top 8 going on at 7:45 for the finals.
The event, which concludes with a performance by the rock band Anthrax, starts later this afternoon at 3 p.m. Here's the full schedule.
- 3:00 PM - Gates open to the public
- 3:30 PM - Riders open practice – All 16 riders
- 5:05 PM - Valient Thorr Performance
- 5:45 PM - Red Bull Snowscrapers contest starts – 60 minute jam session
- 7:10 PM - Black Gold Performance
- 7:45 PM - Red Bull Snowscrapers Finals - Jam session – Top 8 riders
- 8:50 PM - Awards
- 8:55 PM - Anthrax Performance
