Another blast of snow is approaching the tri-state area, forecast to dump as much as 4 inches of snow in New York City on Saturday and even more in the north and west suburbs.
The heaviest accumulations are expected north and west of I-287, where up to 10 inches could fall. Sleet and rain will reduce the snow totals closer to the city.
The precipitation begins Saturday morning with a slippery coating of snow, but the heaviest will come in the evening. The high Saturday is forecast around 26.
Road conditions will quickly deteriorate, and airport delays are likely.
Overnight Saturday, the snow is likely to change to sleet and freezing rain in the city, and then to regular rain, making roads sloppy with water on top of ice and snow. Whatever snow falls in the city could be totally washed away by morning.
The storm moves out Sunday morning, and the high is expected around 36.
