Small Plane Pilot Survives Crash-Landing in Rural New Jersey

The pilot of a small plane escaped serious injury Saturday when it crash-landed in a field in rural New Jersey.

The plane overturned after hitting the ground at about 4 p.m. The pilot only had minor injuries and he was treated at the scene.South Harrison Township, Gloucester County authorities told NJ.com.

The pilot said he testing a new engine in his "experimental aircraft." During the flight, the new engine shut down, he said.

The pilot's name wasn't disclosed by investigators. He apparently was the only person in the aircraft when the crash occurred.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
