Man Slashed on Subway During Morning Rush in Midtown Manhattan: NYPD

A 60-year-old man was slashed while aboard a subway train in midtown Manhattan during the morning rush Friday, authorities said.

The man got on a train on the N/Q/R line at West 57th Street and Seventh Avenue and bumped into the suspect, in his 40s, police said.

The suspect then confronted the 60-year-old and slashed him on the left side of his face and left hand with a small knife.

The suspect then got off the train and ran off. The 60-year-old man got off the stop at 59th Street and Fifth Avenue and walked to his office at East 63rd Street before calling 911.

The man was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital, where he is in stable condition.

It's the latest in a string of slashings across the city this year. Through the beginning of this week there had been 567 slashings and stabbings in 2016, up about 20 percent over the same period in 2015.

Anyone with information about the slasher should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
