We're #6!
Bachelors who lay down the average $5.50 for a pint of beer in NYC are getting a much better value than they might think. When it comes ambitious women, amazing pizza, and a power culture that rocks the single life.
That's why NYC was rated the 6th best city to live in by online mag AskMen.com.
Somehow Chicago placed in the no. 1 spot, followed by Barcelona, Spain, but New York is far from shabby, with power-players like Mayor Bloomberg having praised the single life here.
"I like theater, dining and chasing women," Bloomberg once famously told a reporter years ago. "Let me put it this way: I am a single, straight, billionaire in Manhattan. What do you think? It's a wet dream."
Whether it's a wet dream or a Met dream you're pondering, the adventures in New York are endless.
AskMen notes that a dude can head down to SoHo and stumble upon a handful of supermodels frolicking on Prince Street or check out one of the six local teams at a virtually unlimited amount of sport-friendly venues.
And although it may not be the best city for your wallet, opportunities abound, which is partly why it attracts so many ambitious, young, and power-seeking singles.
"New York is the best city in the world for one-night stands," AskMen.com said. Which is no surprise, considering it's the home of sexed-up hits like "Sex and the City" and "Friends".
"Our city has everything - the best clubs, the best restaurants, the most beautiful, sophisticated women in
the world. One of whom I'm married to," 49-year-old Bob Curry of Manhattan told the Daily News.
The News noted that Curry and other men were surprised New York ranked in as no. 6, after Chicago,
Barcelona, San Francisco, London and Sydney.
With the recession, apartment prices in New York are decreasing, creativity is increasing, and bars are offering better happy hour deals. Maybe it's a good time to be a bachelor.
