Two sisters died when a raging fire engulfed a Southampton home that their family had apparently been renting for a summer vacation, authorities say.
The young women were staying at a home on Spring Lane in Noyack, on Long Island's South Fork, with their parents -- Lewis Wiener, 60, and Alisa Wiener, 52 -- and 23-year-old brother, when flames broke out around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, police said.
According to the Southampton Town Police Department, the couple's three children were sleeping upstairs, while the parents slept downstairs at the time the fire broke out. The father apparently awaked to the sound of breaking glass and warned the family to get out. When he and his wife escaped outside, they realized their children did not and the father attempted to go back into the home, but the flames were too intense for him to do so, leaving him burned.

The couple's son, Zachary, also managed to escape the fire from a second-story window, police say, but the couple's daughters -- 21-year-old Jillian and 19-year-old Lindsay -- did not.
Officers responded and encountered a home fully ablaze -- with three people who had already escaped standing helplessly outside. Fire teams from five communities ultimately responded to extinguish the fire.
The two young women were found once the flames were out. Both were taken to SUNY Southampton Hospital, with CPR being performed on the way, but the sisters died of their injuries.

The parents and their son were taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries described to be non-life-threatening, Suffolk County police said.
Police say the family was renting the home in the Sag Harbor neighborhood for the summer and are originally from Potomac, Maryland.
Authorities said an ongoing water emergency in the area did not impact the response. The cause of the fire, which started in the back of the house, is under investigation.
