Man Killed in Shooting, Stabbing Near Barclays Center: NYPD

A man was shot and killed near Brooklyn's Barclays Center on Wednesday night, according to police. 

The man, identified as 47-year-old Staten Island man Steven Vargas, was shot on the street at Fourth Street and Atlantic Avenue -- about a block from the arena -- at about 8:20 p.m., according to the NYPD.

When first-responders arrived they found the man, who has not been identified, suffering from several gunshot wounds to his chest and a stab wound, police said. 

He was taken to Brooklyn Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

No arrests have been made in the case. Police are investigating.
