NJ Men Indicted in Slaying of Seton Hall Student

Two New Jersey men have been indicted on numerous charges — including felony murder — stemming from the fatal shooting of a Virginia woman during an off-campus party near Seton Hall University last year.

Twenty-six year-old Nicholas Welch and 20-year-old Marcus Bascus, both of East Orange, were named in an 11-count indictment handed up Tuesday by an Essex County grand jury.

Prosecutors say Bascus provided the handgun Welch allegedly used when he opened fire at random after being denied entry to a house party in September 2010.

Jessica Moore of Disputanta, Va., a sophomore at Seton Hall, was fatally wounded. Four other students were also shot, but they all have since recovered.

Bascus and Welch each remain jailed on $2 million bail. Both have pleaded not guilty.
