Sen. Chuck Schumer Holds Lottery for Ticket to Pope's Address Before Congress

One lucky New York resident will be able to see Pope Francis address Congress when he visits Washington, D.C. next month.

Sen. Charles Schumer is giving away his own guest ticket to the pontiff’s address to the joint meeting of Congress on Sept. 24.

Schumer is also offering 100 pairs of tickets to the papal audience on the West Lawn of the Capitol following Pope Francis’ address.

Pope Francis will be the first pope ever to address a joint meeting of Congress.

The deadline to submit requests for tickets will be Aug. 26 and the drawing will be held on Aug. 27. One joint meeting ticket winner and 100 winners of a pair of tickets to the papal audience will be notified personally after the drawing.
