Rutgers Basketball Player Arrested, Reported to Face Threat, Weapons Charges

Rutgers men's basketball shooting guard Issa Thiam reportedly faces a variety of criminal charges after being arrested early Friday.

Thiam, a 6'10" junior shooting guard from Senegal, was suspended from the team following his arrest, the school confirmed. 

Further details around the circumstances of his arrest were not immediately available as of late Friday night, though NJ.com reported he faces a litany of weapons, threatening and theft charges. 

On his team page, Thiam was credited for being a hard worker with a positive attitude. He speaks five languages and started multiple games for the Scarlet Knights this season.

The team was traveling Friday to face Indiana this weekend.
