Ruben Diaz's NYPD Daughter Accused of Vandalism

She was charged with criminal mischief and aggravated harassment, police said

NYPD Sgt. Damaris Diaz, the daughter of state Sen. Ruben Diaz Sr. and the sister of Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. was arrested Saturday on charges of vandalizing her boyfriend's car.
 
She faces criminal mischief and aggravated harassment charges, police said.
 
Attempts to reach the 43-year-old sergeant and her family weren't immediately successful Sunday. The Daily News said she declined to comment as she left a Bronx court Saturday night.
 
Authorities say she was off-duty wehn she scratched her boyfriend's car with a key Friday after sending him angry text messages.

“Unless you want me to key ur car come down,” she threatened in a text sent from outside his home Saturday, the News reported. It was one of 58 texts she sent in two days. “You are being f---ed up. You are pissing me off so hurry up and come down,” she also said in a voicemail, one of five she left, according the News.
 
Damaris Diaz has been on the police force since 1993. Sergeants Benevolent Association President Ed Mullins says she has a no problems on her record.
