Rooftop Burglar Smashes Windows With Rocks in Queens: Cops

The thief stands on the roof of a nearby building and throws rocks to break windows to gain access into the apartments

Police say a rock-throwing thief has broken into three buildings in Queens five times over the past few weeks, stealing jewelry, eyeglasses and watches.

The thief stands on the roof of a nearby building and hurls rocks to break windows to gain access to the buildings, the NYPD says.

The burglar hit a jewelry business in Long Island City and an Astoria eyeglasses shop twice each between Oct. 14 and Friday, police say. He also boosted watches from a sixth-floor room at LaGuardia Community College during that span.

Police ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
