State troopers and a tow boat crew rescued 11 people and a dog from a capsized boat on the Point Pleasant Canal Sunday, authorities say.
The Point Pleasant Marine Station got a call about a sinking 21-foot boat in the canal near the Loveland Bridge shortly after 5:30 p.m. The emergency call indicated the people in the water, along with the animal, were in distress.
Troopers got to the scene within minutes, along with another vessel operated by Tow Boat U.S., and pulled the 11 individuals and the canine to safety.
All of the victims refused medical attention once they were brought ashore. None were wearing life vests, according to New Jersey State Police.
