Registration Set for Mets Opening Day

Online ticketing application period begins Tuesday

On Tuesday morning, the Mets will open up the registration period for the online lottery that will allow the winners the option to buy Opening Day tickets for the 2009 season.

The official first home game of the Mets regular season is scheduled against San Diego on April 13, a Monday, at 7:10 p.m. And unless the banking crisis gets worse, the Shea Stadium-replacement will still be called CitiField.

Fans can register for the drawing as of 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The registration period will run through midnight February 24.

The winners will be notified by e-mail by February 27 that they have the chance to buy tickets, which start at $27 a pop, plus service charges. Each person selected in the lottery will have the option to buy as many as four tickets.

Another way to get Opening Day tickets for the Mets is through the purchase of season tickets, which start at $1,550 for the season.
