The man followed the 30-year-old woman home from work, forced his way into her apartment and tried to rape her on her couch, police say

Police are looking for a man who allegedly stalked a woman as she was going home from work in Brooklyn early Sunday morning, then forced himself into her apartment and tried to rape her.

The 30-year-old woman was walking home in the area of Hewes and South 3rd streets in Williamsburg at around 4 a.m. when the man began following her, police said.

When she got to her apartment, he forced his way in and pushed her onto the couch and tried to rape her, according to police.

The woman fought him off, and the suspect snatched $300 in cash from her wallet, then ran off on South Fourth Street towards Union Avenue.

EMS responded and transported the victim to Woodhull Medical Center.

The suspect is about 27 to 32 years old, 6 feet tall with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a dark gray hoodie, black pants, black shoes and a black hat.
