Showers, Storms Soak Tri-State

Wet weather made for a messy commute throughout the tri-state Friday morning as scattered showers and locally heavy thunderstorms soaked the area.

More heavy downpours were expected throughout the morning and early afternoon, capable of dropping a quick inch or two of rain.

Localized flooding is possible across portions of western New Jersey, New York City and Long Island in poor drainage spots.

The heaviest rain should move out after 4 p.m., and a high of 69 is forecast for the day.

The rain is welcome in many places; Central Park and Newark, N.J. are about 9 to 10 inches below on rainfall this year.

The weekend looks dry with sun, clouds and temperatures in the 60s.

The area will see 70s again next week.
