Queens Man Gets 28 Years in Prison for Killing Ex-Girlfriend

A Queens man who admitted to killing his ex-girlfriend and hiding her bloody body in the trunk of her car is heading to prison.

Prosecutors say 31-year-old Luis Zambrano was sentenced Tuesday to 28 years behind bars in the killing of Angie Escobar.

The body of the 28-year-old mother of two was found in the trunk of her car on Sept. 10 after she broke up with Zambrano. Authorities say she had 80 stab wounds.

Zambrano locked Escobar inside the trunk and then fled to Virginia, where he was arrested on Sept. 18.

Zambrano says that demonic possession and trust issues led to the killing. He says he was under the influence of drugs and alcohol and barely remembers what happened.
