Democratic Party Boss Lives in Virginia, Not Queens: Report

NYC congressman allegedly living in a D.C suburb

He may be one of the most influential players in Queens politics, but Rep. Joe Crowley doesn't even live there, according to a published report.

The New York Post reports that Crowley, who represents parts of Northern Queens and the eastern portion of the Bronx, spends most of his time in the D.C suburb of Arlington, Va., where he purchased a home in 2004.

His three children attend the community's schools, and he even drives a car with Virginia plates, according to the Post.

Property records show Crowley, who serves as the Democratic party leader for Queens, still owns a family home in Woodside, Queens, although the Post says neighbors on the block "don't know who he is."

On his website, he touts his district, the 7th, as being "one of the most diverse communities in the world." It's home to ethnic enclaves such as Little India, Little Colombia, and Little Korea, and includes LaGuardia Airport and Citi Field.

The spokeswoman for Crowley, Courtney Gidner, did not dispute the report, but highlighted the congressman's leadership and said he's an "effective representative who consistently delivers for his district."

"He is also a devoted husband and father to three young kids who he wants to spend time with during the work week," she said. "He is strongly committed to both his job and family."
