One of the prospective jurors was Sen. Cory Booker, who took time out from his presidential primary campaign to report to the Essex County courthouse on Thursday.
Some people tweeted selfies with the former Newark mayor, and Booker also posted a video on his Twitter account.
Booker served as mayor from 2006 to 2013 and lives in downtown Newark, about a mile from the courthouse.
