Police responding to a domestic violence incident in New Jersey shot a suspect when he fired his gun at them, officials said.
Officers went to the apartment on Martin Street in Paterson, and a man inside shot at them but missed, according to city councilman Luis Velez.
The officer fired back and hit the suspect in the leg and shoulder, Velez said. The suspect was transported to the hospital with non-serious injuries.
