Police: Sanitation Worker Finds Body of Brooklyn Man on Side of Long Island Road

Detectives believe it is possible the suspect was killed in a different location before the body was dumped at the location

The body of a Brooklyn man was found with a gunshot wound to the head on the side of a road in Long Island Thursday morning, according to police.

A sanitation worker found the body of Terrance L. Mitchell, of Flatbush, in a wooded lot on a dead-end street in Wyandanch around 7:15 a.m., according to police. Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives were called to the scene shortly after.

Mitchell was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was taken to the medical examiner's office.

Detectives believe it is possible Mitchell was killed in a different location before the body was dumped at the location on Spruce Street. No weapon was recovered in the area, according to police.

A police dog was brought in to help search the area around where the body was found.
