Police Arrest Suspect in BK Shooting That Wounded 6, Including Toddler

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said the suspect made statements implicating himself in the shooting

Police have charged a man in connection with Sunday's drive-by shooting of six people, including a toddler, in Brooklyn, police said.

Lawand Tinsley, 19, was charged Friday with six counts of second-degree attempted murder, six counts of first-degree assault and six counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said Tinsley was taken in for questioning and made statements implicating himself in the shooting.

A 25-year-old man was shot in the back and his 2-year-old daughter suffered a graze wound to the leg when gunfire erupted near Chester Street and Riverdale Avenue in Brownsville Sunday afternoon.

Another teenager and three men in their 20s were hit in the leg and back.

None of the injuries was considered life-threatening. The 2-year-old girl who was among the wounded has since been released from the hospital, though she hobbles as a result of the bullet wound and the child's mother says she's now afraid to take her outside.
