Police Officer Struck by SUV in Large Fight in Parking Lot: NYPD

A police officer was struck by an SUV early Sunday while trying to break up a large fight in a parking lot near Peter Cooper Village, police said. 

The officer was responding to a report of a group dispute at 23rd Street and the FDR Drive when a Ford Explorer tried to flee and struck him, police said. 

The officer fired his gun once, but no one was struck, police said. 

The officer went to Bellvue Hospital for treatment of a hand injury, police said. 

Two people were in custody, police said. Charges are pending.
