Police are searching for a man who allegedly impersonated a police officer to lure a teenage boy into a white van and sexually assault him in Brooklyn.
Police said the 15-year-old victim encountered the suspect at about 9:30 a.m. Friday after he threw an empty chips bag onto the subway platform at the 53rd Street and Fourth Avenue station in Sunset Park.
The man was in regular civilian clothing, police said, but he showed a police shield and ordered the victim to go with him.
The boy followed the suspect to a white van and got in, police said. The suspect drove the victim to the area of 92nd Street and Dahlgren Place in Bay Ridge, where he threatened him with a syringe, according to Police Commissioner Ray Kelly.
The suspect then sexually assaulted the teenager, police said.
The suspect then drove the victim to 38th Street and Fourth Avenue in Greenwood Heights, and dropped him off there, according to police.
The suspect is described as about 45 to 49 years old, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 145 pounds. He has a bald head, a gray mustache and a mole under the left side of his lip, police said.

Police are still searching for another impersonator who allegedly sexually assaulted a Queens woman in her home before robbing her on Nov. 20.
