A 31-year-old man accused of bringing a teenager to his New York City apartment and recording a video as the boy performed sex acts on him has beem arrested, according to police.
Michael Barreto, a known sex offender with three prior arrests, was taken into police custody on Tuesday at his home in the Bronx's Concourse after police tracked down the 15-year-old who was reported missing in Kips Bay to his apartment, The Daily News first reported.
In the apartment, police found a camera set up at the bed. Police told the Daily News that the boy had been there since July. Barreto reportedly met the teen two years prior when the teen was selling candy.
He's charged with possession of child pornography and unlawful imprisonment.
Barreto didn't speak to reporters as NYPD officers escorted him to jail on Wednesday. Police found photos and videos of the teen on Barreto's cellphone when he was arrested, according to court document obtained by News 4 on Wednesday.
Barreto allegedly provided his victim with alcohol and marijuana as the teen played video games and hung out in his apartment.
The teen confirmed to police that he was the person depicted in photos and videos on Barreto's phone. He told an NYPD detective that Barreto wanted to have intercourse with him but he said no.
Police are now searching for other possible victims.
