Polar Bears Take Super Bowl Swim

It's time for the annual Super Bowl Splash.

The 9th Annual Super Bowl Splash benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Metro New York was held in honor of young Paulie Bradley, who passed away at age four in 1997.

Since inception in 2000, the Long Beach Polar Bears Super Bowl Splash has raised the astonishing amount of more than $1 million, helping to make hundreds of heartfelt wishes come true.

Last year, about 3,000 people braved the icy-cold water and raised more than $300,000, which equates to granting 40 wishes of local children with life-threatening medical conditions.

This year, the Long Beach Polar Bears will also be attempting to break a world record! The dive will be held under the gaze of The Guinness Book of World Record auditors who will be filming the event for verification and count all waivers submitted by participating Long Beach Polar Bears.
