Plane Lands Safely at LaGuardia After Bird Strike

A United flight from Chicago to LaGuardia Airport with 140 people on board landed safely after a bird strike Wednesday morning, authorities say.

The flight crew reported the Airbus A-320 hit birds when it was about four miles away from the airport around 11 a.m., according to the Port Authority.

There was no damage to the plane's windshield, though some bird remains were removed and will be sent to a lab to determine what kind of birds hit the aircraft, the Port Authority said.

No one was hurt.

United said the plane was back in service after it was examined by maintenance workers.
