Pepper Spray Sends Harlem Students to Hospital: Report

Officials say six students at a Harlem charter school were hospitalized after being exposed to pepper spray.

It happened just after 2:30 p.m. Thursday inside Public School 92, the St. Hope Leadership Academy on West 134th Street.

The Daily News reports that witnesses say the pepper spray was released in the school's cafeteria.

Officials say 16 students were treated at the school. Six students were later hospitalized for further treatment.

The school serves grades five through eight and opened in 2007.
