Fire at World Trade Center Station Shuts Down PATH Service at Height of Morning Rush, Prompts Oculus Evacuation

A "small fire" in an electrical room at the World Trade Center PATH station created a smoke condition that shut down service between the Manhattan hub and Newark and Hoboken at the height of Thursday's morning rush, officials say.

Service on the Newark-World Trade Center and Hoboken-World Trade Center lines was shut down shortly before 8:30 a.m. The Oculus was briefly evacuated as a precaution. The verified @PATHTrain account said the fire was out shortly after 9 a.m., and service resumed with residual delays a short time after.
